Inca Explorer

10 days/ 11 Nights Minimum 8 People

Date: May 29 - June 8

The Inca Trail is the name given to a walking route that partially follows the course of an ancient Inca roadway leading to the city of Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail can best be described as an experience that transcend both space and time as it winds along paths through the Andes, some of which are still paved, to altitudes of over 14,000 ft.

Stunning vistas and the mysterious aura of the ancient Inca civilization combine to make the Inca Trail one of the most unforgettable trekking experiences on earth.

The Inca Trail's ultimate destination is the mystical Machu Picchu, known as the 'Lost City of the Incas', which lay undiscovered for hundreds of years after the last of the Incas left until Hiram Bingham rediscovered it in 1911.

Machu Picchu is intact apart from the straw roofs that have rotted away, and is a maze of plazas and palaces, long staircases carved out of the solid rock and terraces that go right to the edge of the sheer cliffs.

If hiking the Inca Trail is not for you, sit back and relax, take the scenic train to Machu Picchu from Cusco.

After exploring Muchu Picchu we will take the bus to Puno a city on the shore of Lake Titicaca. Lake Titicaca at 12725 ft. is the world's highest navigable lake and according to legend, this lake gave birth to the Inca civilization. When Peruvians talk of turquoise blue Titacaca, they proudly note that it is so large it has waves. This, the most sacred body of water in the Inca empire and now the natural separation between Peru and Bolivia, has a surface area exceeding 8,000 square kilometers (3,100 square miles), not counting its more than 30 islands. The best-known of the islands dotting Titicaca's surface are the Uros, floating islands of reed named after the Indians who inhabited them. The isle of Amantani is best known for opening its doors to outsiders who are willing to live for a few days as the Aymará-speaking islanders do -and that means sleeping on beds made of long hard reeds and eating potatoes for every meal.
